Spring 2018 Fashion Trends

They say fashion trends are like a sine curve but since I started FMF I’ve found it’s more true than I ever imagined. One season a trend will be hot, then you won’t see it for a while until a few seasons later- boom! it’s  back in full force, perhaps with a twist or two. What I find so interesting is that none of these trends are really new- what’s new is how they’re reimagined and re-presented season after season. As a blogger I love watching runway clips and scanning reports to determine emerging trends before they hit full force. To me it’s fun to be “in the know” and then watch as things unfold…but the best part is I get to share it all with y’all! Here are the biggest Spring 2018 fashion trends you’ll see as we inch towards warmer weather:

12 Spring 2018 Fashion Trends:

1. Galaxy prints

Stars prints and other “galaxy inspired” prints are starting get really big. I came across this loungewear set while online shopping earlier and fell in love:

2. Grommet detailing

This is such an interesting trend and to be honest I wasn’t totally sure how I felt about it until I found and ordered this pair of jeans. I just love how the grommets add the perfect amount of edge!

3. Florals

Florals were huge last Spring and they look to be making a comeback again this year. This year though I think we’re going to see bigger, bolder floral prints.

5. Dark denim

I think this trend is really fun too. This dark wash shearling trim denim jacket just arrived in the mail today and I’m in LOVE!

4. Pastels in general and lavender in particular

Lavender is supposed to be HUGE this spring and it’s one of the trends I’m most excited about. Y’all’s favorite outfit of mine this past season was a lavender sweatshirt and I think it was one of my favorites too! Right now I’m crushing hard on this little lavender number:

I also just got this lavender sweater from Red Dress and really love it- it’s the perfect shade of lavender and so soft.

5…but also bright, saturated colors

Bold, bright colors will be making a comeback this Spring: think bright orange, rich green and hot pink. Of all the hues, hot pink is my favorite (shocker lol). I love this neon pink sweatshirt right now, plus I just think it would be so cute for Valentine’s Day:

6. The updated portrait collar

I’m seeing this one on everything from swimwear to dresses and tops. Showing a little shoulder is flattering on every figure and I love the slightly regal air this trend exudes…it’s just so dressy and fun.

7. White maxis and white in general

Naturally I love this one because it’s both feminine and romantic…now if only the weather wold warm up!

8. The updated trench

The trench coat is always a classic staple, but this Spring it’s getting an update.  I found this one on sale the other day and just ordered it. I absolutely love how the oversized draped lapel gives it that high fashion flare (without the high fashion price tag)

9. Lots of texture, especially from feathers and fringe

I’m seeing a lot of the feather trend already this winter, especially in coats and cardigans. I’ve been eyeing this adorable one for the last week:

Another texture trend that’s big at the moment is fur- fur coats, fur vest, fur stoles, etc.

I don’t wear a lot of fringe (it’s just feels so Coachella to me lol! ) but I think a fun way to do this trend is with fringe sandals:

10. Anorak jackets

If the runway is any indication, this one is going to be HUGE. I’m a little on the fence about this trend then I found this jacket and just thought it was SO cute:

11. Clear plastic.

Personally I’m not a huge fan of this trend, but like the fringe I think it can look really cool in a toned-down way:

12. Sheer fabrics.

I absolutely love this trend because of the romantic factor. One of my favorite sheer tops I’ve been eyeing is this one:

When it comes to trends I think it’s important not to try to wear every trend but to stick with the ones that feel like “you” and reflect your personal style. While I’ve loved many recent Fall/Winter trends, there were several that just didn’t feel like “me” (ahem white Winter booties) so I didn’t wear them.

And the bottom line I think is to have fun! Pick the Spring 2018 fashion trends you love- and if you don’t love any, don’t be afraid to ignore ’em altogether. We are each beautiful and wonderful for who we are and we don’t need a single trend to show that. <3

Love always,

Terra

Funny that you said that fringe is not your thing….I wholeheartedly agree!! As many times as it has come around, still cannot get on board.
