Summer 2018 Fashion Trends

Summer is around the corner, and y’all can we get a hallelujah?! I tell people that two years living in Hawaii ruined me for cold weather. After Oahu even Charlotte Winters feel *brutal*.  (It’s ok, you can laugh- my 18 year old New Hampshire self is!)

Anyway, it’s in the rear view and warm Summer days, long nights, pretty blue (pool) waters and back porch barbeques are finally here and this ex-Hawaiian couldn’t be happier.

In the world of fashion Summer means the usual suspects- sundresses, florals, straw totes- but this year is showing an interesting mix of more specific trends. You guys loved this post on Spring fashion trends so I’m dedicating tonights post to the biggest Summer 2018 fashion trends I’ve seen so far.

1. Circle bags

Straw is a major player but I’ve noticed almost every designer has jumped on the circle train- many even with leather bags. Personally I love the trend in straw and have already started a little collection myself:

2. Pastels

Lighter colors typically peak in the Summer but 2018 is about every single shade of the chart. Lilac in particular is hot hot hot and this $49 romper has been one of my favorite finds.

3. Rainbow stripes

This trend is showing up all over in the form of striped tops, pants and dresses. Because both stripes and pastels are red hot I’m seeing a ton of pastel striped pieces. Here are some of favorites that won’t break the bank:

4. Fringe

For me, full on fringe has always felt more Coachella than an everyday affair, but I think a fun way to do this trend is through earrings. I’ve been on a major kick with these fringe earrings and have them in a few colors.

5. Ruffles on ruffles (on ruffles)

Ruffles are BACK! But this year they’re hitting a whole other level. I’m seeing lots of things with mutiple layers of ruffles but this is one of my persona. favorite trends so it makes me happy I’ve been dying over this little ruffle one piece. It’s a splurge, but I think I’m going to do it. (If I wear it all this Summer and next, that justifies it right? Here are some other ruffle picks I’m crushing on:
