First things first, I was DYING at Sunday’s shoot with Nicole in Charleston! We shot in the morning but I think it was 90 before the humidity factor. Fall doesn’t come to the Carolinas until  later in the year, but I know it’s cooling off other places and am excited to share my take on Fall 2018 trends with you (heat or no heat).

Tonight I want to talk about the Fallest of Fall staples: the cardigan. We all have them and they come in a million shapes, sizes and colors. To me, an open cardigan is  the best possible layering piece with all the ways you can style it. But though options are endless on how to style a cardigan for Fall, I have found there’s one way that for whatever reason always looks killer:

Go monochromatic underneath in a neautral shade that complements your cardigan.

It’s the easiest hack but for some reason it always looks bomb. Black was the complementary color I chose for this tan cardigan, but white would have been another great option. If you love a more colored cardigan, black and white are my favorite monochromatic bases. You can even use this trick with a multi color cardigan – I did that here for my first night in Charleston.

Because this cardigan is oversized (I am wearing XS), I paired it with leggings for a fitted contrast and to give shape to the overall look. (Side note- these are my Pure Barre leggings I work out weekly in- I’ve had them for two years and they still look new). I realized after they were perfect for the 80s vibe I was going for with these sunglasses ha. 80s is probably the biggest trend I am seeing for Fall and I am having fun playing along.

Another Fall ’18 trend is leopard print. I love a touch of leopard over a lot- less is more for me! One of the best investments I ever made was this inexpensive leopard print belt.

In case you are curious, I rounded up the Top 5 Fall Fashion Trends here.

XO,

Terra
