…and we made it to Thursday! I just got back from a meeting in Chesapeake, Virginia at the Dollar Tree buying office. My gig with Turkey Hill involves days at the home office but least once a week- like today- I’m out and about meeting customers. In the realm of fashion that means I’m swapping those ripped jeans for dress pants and my fuzzy sweater for a button down.
For the longest time I struggled to feel stylish in office attire; I always felt so limited by dress pants and a dress shirt! After starting Fifteen Minutes to Flawless though I began to experiment with my office looks and tonight I’m sharing a few tricks I’ve figured out.
shirt (on sale) // cami // scarf (on sale) // ankle pants (on sale) // earrings (on sale)
Tory Burch Fleming Bag, available in other colors here and in a larger size here
A few of you have asked lately, so I’m linking my ride-or-die curling wand here
There’s good news: it’s totally possible (and easy) to take your work wear from boring to breathtaking.
- Black dress pants are overrated. Ok, so we all neeed a great pair (I swear by these), but black slacks day after day can start to feel bor-ing. One way to chic it up is wearing colored bottoms and going for an ankle length hem. I have these Express ankle pants in four colors- blue, blush, red, and this nude. I styled my blue pair here; it’s crazy how much colored pants can change a look! (Side note, some colors/sizes are sold out due to the sale, but I’m almost positive they’ll be restocked soon).
- Look for pieces with great details. This purple button down has a matte satin finish that makes it pop. It’s a terrific cut and style but the texture takes it to another level. I layered it with this cami (a bit more of a splurge but such a stylish and versatile layering piece). The fabric covered buttons are a beautifully sophisticated touch and the silken material feels luxurious. I threw this scarf on top; its pattern and raw edges completed the look.
- Layer, layer, layer. Layering always makes a look more intriguing and you’ll stand out of the crowd every time. Instead of wearing my button down, err, buttoned down, I unbuttoned it to layer with the cami – then layered both with the scarf. Another one of my favorite ways to layer in an office environment is with a long cardigan.
Express is my favorite place to shop for work wear. They have so many pieces that are quality, versatile, and stylish- three things I look for when shopping for business attire.
What’s your favorite work wear look? Send me an email fifteenminutestoflawless@gmail.com; I’d love to see!
Love always,
