Dark circles. They all plague us every once in a while–and sometimes more often. For my part, I’ve been facing them more lately due to sleep deprivation. I love blogging so much that I tend to stay up late writing posts, doing research, or answering comments. Don’t get me wrong, it’s my choice and I am so happy to be in this position! It’s not always easy but it is incredibly rewarding. But…back to tonight’s topic: just how do you cover up dark circles?
Before talking about concealing I want to say that getting enough sleep is the absolute best thing to prevent dark circles in the first place. I am working towards managing my time more effectively to be able to do this, but in the meantime below is my one minute step-by-step for camouflaging the bags.
Here I am before:
Step 1: Moisturize the under-eye area. I use Olay Total Effect Anti-Aging Moisturizer (under $10)
…I dot it on around my eyes like so:
Step 2: I take the Tarte Shape Tape Concealer and apply it in upside-down triangles under my eyes:
I like to make the lower point of the triangle below where the dark circles end. Doing it this way helps the concealer to blend more naturally into the rest of my face. The Tarte Shape Tape Concealer is actually a regular concealer, not specifically an under-eye concealer, but it works amazingly on the under-eye area. I love this concealer because I can use it on acne/other blemishes too. It’s also the longest-wearing and best coverage concealer I’ve every tried.
For under-eye concealer, I choose one shade lighter than my skin tone to help brighten my under eye area. The Tarte Shape Tape Concealer is my favorite because of how long-lasting it is, but a few other products I really like are Yves Saint Laurent’s Touche Eclat and It Cosmetic’s Bye Bye Under Eye Anti Aging Concealer (I feel like this one creases just a little, but overall it’s a really good product).
Step 3: Using a foundation brush (or my fingers) I thoroughly blend the concealer into my under-eye area.

I might be exhausted but I look like I got my eight hours ;). And speaking of sleep– I’m headed off to bed to get enough shut eye for a change!
