Did you guys catch my Instagram story today announcing the winner of my Brahmin handbag giveaway? I had SO much fun with this and wanted to thank each of you who entered; it means so much! It was a wonderful feeling to announce the winner, get her reaction, and know that I had been able to make her day. (On another note, I’ve got to find how other bloggers are doing their giveaway drawings! I spent a good chunk of time cutting little pieces of paper, going through entries, and writing down each one. If you’re reading this and have done a giveaway, I’d love to hear how you streamlined this part!)
Anyway, I hope you are enjoying your weekend. It seems like the weather was unusually warm up and down the east coast today, so hopefully it’s been nice wherever you are! Here it was sunny and 75 today and I was in hog heaven. As I mentioned here I’m so excited for Spring that I’ve been incorporating its looks and pieces into my outfits…so when the weather feels like Spring too I can’t help myself!
I was excited to bring out these shorts because I’ve been looking forward to wearing them. I think the tweed texture and “raw” hem make them a unique and interesting piece. The whole raw hem thing has really blown up, and while I’ll never sacrifice my personal style to sport a specific trend, I love finding a trendy piece that is exactly my style :).
I also love the lining; it’s a silky polyester that is so comfortable. I also think the high-waist design is flattering for any figure.
Once I decided on these shorts I built my outfit around them. I thought a fitted black tee was a nice contrast to the light color and relaxed fit of the shorts. Once I had these two pieces, I wanted a pop of color to spice things up and reached for these earrings. Finally, I chose a neutral bag and sandals to complete the look. I’ve been wearing these sandals like crazy since the weather started warming up…they go with anything and dress up any casual look.
Another thing that has been on repeat is this Tory Burch Fleming bag. It sounds silly, but I love this bag more each time I wear it. It’s a bag that’s versatile enough to pair with a long dress for a formal event, or throw on with a pair of ripped jeans. To me the chain strap worn crossbody feels like wearing a piece of jewelry because it’s so pretty. I could go on and on, but you can read a full review on it here :).
Anyway, that’s my thought process behind today’s look. Putting this outfit together took less than five minutes. I find if I start with one piece I love/want to wear (in this case, these shorts), then it’s pretty fast to build the rest around it.
I hope you have a wonderful rest of your weekend and talk to you all soon!
XO,
Terra
