This post may seem a little random because I’m talking about two items that are totally unrelated…except for one thing: they’re both super easy, fast, cheap, and effective beauty boosters I recently started using and have been loving.
- The first is these imPRESS press-on gel nails. I consider myself girly but truth be told I hate doing my nails. I hate the time it takes to paint them, waiting afterwards to dry, and then somehow–no matter how hard I try–nicking the new polish anyway. (I have a very active three-year-old which doesn’t help in that regards:) ). Occasionally I’ve gotten a gel manicure which looks great, but a couple days later starts to peel. Anyway, the other week I tried imPRESS nails and have been SO happy with them! They stay on for close to a week (no chipping or peeling) and look like regular gel nails. I’ve gotten a lot of compliments, particularly when I wear embellished ones as in the photo here, and when I say they’re press-on nails, they are shocked and tell me they thought it was a gel manicure. Anyway, imPRESS nails can be found online here or at your local Target or Walmart (they’re cheaper at Target/Walmart, usually $5-$6 for a set of 24 nails). The nails come in several different sizes so you find your exact fit. Putting on a set takes me probably 2 minutes, and removing them is even faster (simply peal off). They can be trimmed or filed like regular nails. These things have rocked my world.
- Biotin. Biotin is a water soluble B vitamin that produces keratin, increases hair elasticity, and protects hair from becoming dry. I started taking it daily about a month ago and just recently I noticed my hair is visibly healthier and shinier without other changes to my hair care routine. I got my bottle of Biotin at Walmart for a few dollars and keep it by my coffee maker so I remember to take it every morning :). It’s so easy and effective! Note: before taking any new supplement, check with your health care professional. I take a 1,000mg dose of Biotin daily but there are lower and higher doses, which is why it’s important to talk with your doctor. While I have not had any side effects, I read acne is a common one.
Shiny hair and nails…doesn’t get much better than this!
Let me know if you guys end up trying either of these products and what you think!
