Happy Friday ladies! I don’t know about you, but I’m thrilled it’s Friday after 5 right now. The Turkey Hill selling season is upon me and my team and boy has it been busy! Between traveling and meetings and trying to stay on top of the day-to-day in between, this weekend is a breath of fresh air. And with things as busy as they are, what better time to share my go-to beauty shortcuts? Here are some of my favorite tricks for getting ready faster and amping up my looks without running out the clock:
- Dry nail polish…fast. To save time, wait two minutes after applying polish then stick nails in ice water for another two or three minutes. Voila–nails as hard as…well, nails.
- Get va-va-voom lashes without the primer. Once you finish applying mascara as usual, use the tip of the wand to push mascara into just the roots of your lashes. Your lashes will look noticeably longer and more full.
- Blow dry faster. Instead of starting with your top layers, begin with the underneath. To do this, flip your head upside down to dry those layers first. (Starting with the top layers inevitably pulls in the wet hair underneath, re-wetting what you’ve already dried and taking up more time). This cuts drying time by about a third and also reduces heat damage since you ultimately spend less time on the top layers.
- Add eye drops for instant sparkle. A squirt of brightening drops in each eye adds instant sparkle and makes even minimal mascara and a quick liner pop.
- Do the one minute eye shadow. Actually, it’s less than a minute. Take your index finger, dip it in a darker shade, smudge into your crease and blend. This will add instant depth to your eyes.
- Make your lipstick stick. Before applying lipstick, put foundation on your lips as a primer. I’ve found this makes the color stay and saves the time of having to touch-up my lips.
- Get another day out of your ‘do with dry shampoo. Sometimes I think dry shampoo was the best invention of the century. No, really! When your roots start to get oily, it will extend your blowout another day. As an added bonus, it lends texture and volume (my favorite here).
- Use BB cream instead of moisturizer/primer/foundation. A good BB cream is a fantastic multi-tasking product. Apply to cleansed skin for a fresh glow that is as good for your skin as it feels. This one is a great inexpensive option.
