Hey there! How is your weekend going? Juliana and I are having a great morning…it doesn’t get any better than fresh baked muffins, hot coffee, and catching up on fashion week between playing dolls and dress up.
Earlier this week, work took me to NYC during one of my favorite times of year: New York Fashion Week. Given the timing of my meetings, I wasn’t able to attend events (next year!), but it was fun seeing people dressed for them. Since getting home I’ve been perusing Fashion Week round ups and looking at photos/videos to see how runway trends might work their way into wearable fashion this Fall. Here are some of my favorites:
- Cold shoulder. The trend so big this Spring/Summer was also featured heavily during NYFW
- Burnt orange. Burnt hues add such a fun and unexpected pop of color (check out my last post featuring the prettiest burnt orange draped cardigan).
- Blush. Even though I previously thought of it as a spring hue, this color showed up a lot on the runways. I love blush because it’s fairly neutral (=versatile), and subtly feminine.
- Ruffles. Feminine and fun!
- Chokers. All. over. the place. I personally prefer subtle ones or necklaces that have just a choker element (such as the one I am wearing in this post)
- Velvet. This fabric looks and feels so lux! I am on the lookout for ways to incorporate it into my Fall wardrobe.
As it relates to trend 1, I just found the perfect cold shoulder top for early Fall. Here in Charlotte we’re still in the mid-high 80s, so this shirt is perfect for keeping cool while also a gorgeous Fall color.
As the weather cools off, I’m looking forward to wearing it under a blazer, utility, or even leather jacket. The added length in the back makes it even more fun:
To let the burgundy pop, I kept my shoes/bag/jewelry fairly neutral in color, but went for heels with added interest to dress up this jeans-and-a-tee look. Side note: these shoes are so comfortable!
